Proofreading
I provide a thorough and careful proofreading service for any written text. Contact me about essays, theses, journal articles, book manuscripts, corporate reports, marketing materials, or even menus. No job is too small! A detailed word-by-word check of the final version of your document will pick up and correct any mistakes or inconsistencies – before you go to print!
Formatting
If you need more in-depth help with your Word document to iron out those tricky formatting problems that always seem to crop up at the last minute, I can help. These include layout issues, table of contents, cross-referencing, headings and page numbering to highlight a few. I also provide light copy editing, for example, checking a manuscript against the publisher’s house style.
Transcription
This service is for academics and researchers who need interviews transcribed into Word. I work within your research ethics guidelines for the secure transfer and storage of files. In terms of timeframe, it can take few days to turn around interviews, so if you have a number of files it’s a good idea to contact me a bit ahead of time.
Website Editing
As well as checking the use of English, re-writing and copywriting, I can help with migrating projects and uploading content. I have several years’ experience in editing website content (for a web design company with many clients) working directly on a variety of platforms from Dreamweaver to WordPress, including UX-based themes.

About
I live in Belfast and have worked part-time for over 15 years as a freelance proofreader and web editor. My main client is local boutique company Sanphire Design based in Drumbeg, where I provide web editing and content creation for gifted graphic designer and artist Lisa Catherwood.
On the proofreading side, I began by working on student dissertations and academic manuscripts through my job in university administration. My latest project, which I began work on in Sept 2022, is ensuring a book written by multiple authors meets the publisher’s house style.
Qualifications include Certificate in Proofreading (with Chapterhouse), Introduction to Copy Editing (SfEP) and Successful Editorial Freelancing (Publishing Training Centre).
